This a two-dimensional, transient analysis. Mainly, these analyses can be divided into two results of scaled residuals and contours of volume fraction (water-liquid).

Investigating the result of the Eulerian model for a container by scaled residuals can greatly help to analyze the entire computational domain with referred to multiphase flow. At the end of each solver iteration, the residual sum for each of the conserved variables is computed and stored, thereby recording the convergence history. This history is also saved in the data file.

In this analysis, it has been tried to simulate and analyze the multiphase flow of multi-fluid in a container using the Eulerian model by Ansys Fluent software.

Geometry & Grid

The geometry required for this analysis was generated by Ansys Design Modeler software. The meshing required for this analysis was also generated by Ansys Meshing software. The mesh type used in this analysis is Face Meshing with Triangle: Best Split Method. The total number of volume properties for this geometry is 2.8439e+008 mm³.

Model

In this analysis, the Laminar Viscous Model was used to check the flow of fluid. The Volume Fraction Parameters are also applied for formulation by Explicit. The Multi-Fluid VOF Model for Eulerian Parameters is activated. To analyze multiphase flow, this analysis is based on the Eulerian multiphase model for different phases.

Boundary Condition

In this analysis, the flow inlet, which only includes the water, is defined as two velocity inlet. The velocity magnitude value of the velocity air inlet is 0 m/s and the velocity magnitude value of the velocity water-liquid inlet is 0.1 m/s.

In this analysis, the air outlet-vent has been used to determine the phase in the material of air and Momentum settings of the design modeler.

In this analysis, the water-liquid outlet-vent has been used to determine the phase in the material of water-liquid and Multiphase settings of the design modeler. And the Backflow Volume Fraction of the water-liquid outlet vent is 0.

Discretization of Equations

According to the type of flow, the PHASE COUPLED SIMPLE algorithm is used to discretize the Pressure-Velocity Coupling of the solution method. The momentum equation has been discretized in the First Order Upwind.

The results are presented as velocity and pressure contours as well as streamlines.
